Power factor correction

Power factor correction (PFC) has been used in applications such as
industry and energy supply for buildings to improve the quality
of electric power and make it more efficient.

A major benefit is the saving of energy costs.

Another reason to employ PFC in many of today’s power
supplies is to comply with regulatory requirements.

Saber simulation allows the proper choice of power components,
the optimization of MOSFET switching speeds, electromagnetics
components size...

Advanced automatic control

Most of the simulators have suitable algorithms to give results
straight from a set of parameters. With Saber, not only you can
mix control signals, analog signals, digital microcomputer,
advanced behaviour models... But you can also use the powerful
AIM language (based on the industrial standard Tcl/Tk) to
create upper algorithms.

For instance, the schematics presented here described a
missile flight control where parameters are permanently
adjusted in order to reach its target.

Cruise control system

Though it is named "Cruise Control", the component described here
is a versatile integrated circuit which can be possibly use for
others applications.

Parts of the ASIC are :

  • Analog signal converter
  • A/D and memory
  • Frequency/voltage converter
  • PWM driver
  • Servo control
  • Control unit
  • and ... software
It shows the power of Saber/Mast in hierarchical modelling

Throttle valve

The schematics is a design of valve actuator for
a blowing system where it is necessary to know
pressure, temperature, torque at the same time :

  • Throttle
  • Gaspipe
  • Impact jet
  • Steel plate
  • Servo control
The fluid mechanics model is based on an exact relationship, the throttle torque uses a 6-degrees polynom. and it allows Saber® and Mast® to deal with problem in space and not only time.
